Non-organic cotton covers 2.5% of the world’s cultivated land but uses nearly of the world’s pesticides (including herbicides, insecticides, and defoliants), more than any other single major crop. Organic production in cotton farming is utilised to avoid this damaging practice and to promote and enhance biodiversity and biological cycles. The perennial use of organic cotton aims to raise awareness and contribute to the reduced use of pesticides in the production of clothing materials. Every Maharishi collection utilises sweat and jersey grown without toxic pesticides or synthetic fertilisers.
