For Spring / Summer 25 RICK OWENS continues its dark angular path with a new collection, HOLLYWOOD, not inspired by today's cinematography and stars,but the Pre-Code era, roughly 1931 to 1934, when American movies were at their most raucous and racy, a time when illicit sex and violence were common themes, before the Hays code was enforced and changed what could be shown on screen. The films that Rick references in his latest collection are movies like 1933’s homo-erotically charged Lot in Sodom and 1932’s controversial The Sign of The Cross, biblical epics that mix “Art Deco, lurid sin and redeeming morality” that were censored soon afterwards.
